Seismic Instruments
SI Overview
Seismic Instruments builds next-generation seismic data acquisition systems for use on land. Our digital geophone technology and single-sensor recording approach are well suited for a range of applications — from small, lightweight systems for engineering uses to massive, high-density surveys for petroleum exploration and mining Seismic Instrument's system is also capable of non-seismic electromagnetic data acquisition.
High-Density Resolution Revolution
At Seismic Instruments, we believe the next revolution in seismic data quality will be based on single-sensor recording, and we are creating new seismic data acquisition systems that will make single-sensor recording cost-competitive with traditional systems.
Our primary goals at Seismic Instruments are to:
- Equip our customers to improve their bottom lines by delivering higher quality data to their clients
- Provide more efficient, productive tools for our customers to use in seismic data acquisition
- Listen to our customers and respond to their needs
Wireless or Cable Configuration
Our new Smart Antenna
Module®
(SAM) enables the customer to configure either cable
or wireless system configuration using the same building blocks.
- Continuous recording mode on Compact Flash Card media
- Optimized sensor per radio/battery ratio
- GPS timing & synchronization
- Radio communication
- Paralell data downloading
- Real time status and Quality Control monitoring
- Multicolored LED Status Indicator
Single-Sensor Recording
Recording each individual sensor on a separate channel, and spacing the sensors closer than conventional group channels:
- Avoids the irreversible filtering of data introduced by hardwired group forming
- Allows improved signal-to-noise ratio by correcting for micro-statics, amplitude variations, dead sensors, etc. at the sensor level
- Permits application of proper anti-alias protection to recover target bandwidth with less distortion
Digital Geophones
Our new SmartGeophone® outputs a digital signal directly from each phone:
- Eliminates noise-prone analog wiring runs
- Optimized for single-sensor recording
- Advanced fault & tilt detection
- Allows you to upgrade your existing analog geophones, if desired
Electromagnetic Capability
Using a connector based SmartGeophone®, SI's seismic system can be modified for electromagnetic (EM) recording:
- Uses the same SI componets
- System can be converted between electromagnetic and seismic
- Built in amplification
- Passive and active recording
